Biography

I was born in Treviso in 1957 by Antonino, a Sicilian lover of beauty (as well as a man of great generosity) and Gesuina, Venetian woman, very strong and courageous, with a lively intelligence and a boundless maternal love that gave her six children.

Already in elementary school I realized I had a strong passion for drawing: I copying with pencil and paper designs of all kinds - comic books, landscapes etc. - Looking for the similarity with the subjects. At junior high I learned the basic techniques of color and remained fascinated.

I love drawing with pencil and crayons, always aiming for the likelihood of reproduction. The need soon lead me to work since I was young, work which I faced with confidence, knowing that I could research and refine the taste for beauty even in the simplest tasks.

During adolescence I painted some canvases with tempera paints, in an attempt to recreate the effect of bright light as I saw in the books of Art. In the following years I tried to paint in oils, taking advantage of selft-taught abilities, until I met Ester, daughter of a “real” painter, who strongly encouraged me to continue painting. It was her who convinced me to debut with a personal exhibition, which she curated.

Thus begins a new period: comforted by various findings, I participate in various group exhibitions and repeat some personal ones, from which I get the first satisfactions in terms of both critics and sales.

Since I was keen in etnography and different cultures, I gladly paint human figures of faraway lands using photographs taken by fellow travelers, or just taking inspiration from any that ended up in my hands. However, I do not dislike still lifes and landscapes, which I tried to reproduce on canvas always following the same concept, simple but effective: "If I can imagine it already finished, then I can also do it."
